The school calendar for the 2018-2019 academic year already incorporates the modification of the tests: the September exams pass before summer and will take place "between June 17 and 21, 2019". As of next year, the tests of the last year of the institute (what used to be COU) will always be before the summer holidays.

Because with the adaptation of the careers to Bologna (European Higher Education Area) the university advanced the start of the course at the beginning of September. The students with pending subjects of June, with the recovery and the selectivity to the return of the summer, are incorporated to the university a month and a half after the beginning of the course in the campuses, in disadvantage with the rest of companions. By advancing the second opportunity to the month of June, all students who start university studies will be on equal terms, without losing almost half of a semester.
By 2019 there will be two final exam processes in the institutes (which will correspond to June and September) and two selectivities (currently Bacharelato Assessment for or Access to Universidade-ABAU), all before the summer holidays. This advance from September to June has already been applied by Castilla y León, La Rioja, the Community of Madrid, Navarre and the Basque Country.

"The first final evaluation must be completed on May 22," says Adelino Pose, spokesperson for the Secondary School directors. Explains the teacher that the first final exams would be, as up to now, in May.
Those who pass go to the first ABAU. Those who did not, would have until June 17, at least, to review the subject and try to pass the recovery exams. "There are theories that bet on repeating the exams without letting much time pass because this way the knowledge is fresher," says Pose. The regulations indicate that "between the ordinary final evaluation and the extraordinary one, the centers can introduce changes in the teaching staff's schedules to conveniently prepare the students for the ABAU and the extraordinary tests". It would be between the end of May and June.
